About
Luke Damiani has been making and teaching sculpture in California’s Bay Area for over 18 years. Luke received his BFA in Sculpture and Ceramics from The California College of the Arts in Oakland and his MFA in Sculpture from San Francisco State University. He has been a graduate fellow and affiliate artist at The Headlands Center for the Arts in the Marin Headlands and has exhibited his work throughout California.
Much of his work stems from interactions in and admiration for the natural world. The act of deconstructing and reconstructing found objects and materials is an ongoing exploration. He actively seeks a collaboration with his chosen materials thus allowing the inherent qualities of these materials to help shape the works he creates. His passion for making and exploring the potential of different mediums has led him to create works in wood, cast bronze and aluminum, fabricated steel, ceramics, found objects and various mixed media. He is also a maker of furniture, pottery and other utilitarian art objects.
